2018 COMPETITION GUIDE :
 
WEEKEND SCRAMBLE
Most Saturdays run in conjunction with club competitions.
Divisions available for men and women.
 
001 – BUSINESS HOUSE & TWILIGHT
9 hole competition played over the summer months.
Get a business house team or a group of friends. All welcome.
 
002 – THURSDAY BOYS HAGGLE
Member and visitors welcome
Names recorded up to 11am (9 hole).
Names recorded up to 10.30am (18 hole).
 
002a – TUESDAY BOYS HAGGLE
Member and visitors welcome
Names recorded up to 8.30am (9 hole).
Names recorded up to 10.30am (18 hole).
 
004 – WHANGAPARAOA GOLF CLUB OPEN
Competition played over either 9 or 18 holes.
Divisions for both men and women.
 
005 – EASTER RABBIT RUN
Format decided by the Match Committee.
Open competition.
 
006 – FA CUP MIXED INTERCLUB
Team of eight men and eight women represent the club to  play a Combine stableford competition against Peninsula, Warkworth and Helensville.
 
007 – TYLER DAVIES MIXED INTERCLUB
Team of eight men and eight women represent the club to play a Combine stableford competition against Peninsula, Warkworth, Helensville and Southhead.
 
008 – CHARITY DAY
Course and facilities are made available for chosen charity.  Format decided by Match Committee.  Everyone welcome.
  
009 – JACK CAUNDLE MEMORIAL OPENING DAY
Ambrose event with a shotgun start.
Awesome Sixes. Open competition.
  
011 – EAGLES DAY
Invitation event hosted by the Eagles Golfing Society.  Stableford competition.
 
014 – PATRON TROPHY
Prizes donated by Allen John, Patron.
Stapleford  competition open to all financial members who hold a current handicap.
 
015 – ANDREW CUP
Trophy donated by Keith Andrew and family.
Open to all financial members who hold a current handicap.
After event, scores are put into a hat and partner drawn. Best combined wins.
 
016 – CLOSING DAY
Ambrose event with shotgun start.
Awesome sixes. Open competition.
 
017 – CHRISTMAS HAMPER DAY
Format decided by Match Committee.
Divisions for men and women.
Open to all financial members who hold a current handicap.
 
018 – WILSON TROPHIES
Trophies donated by Ted and Deirdre Wilson.
Mixed Canadian Foursomes Competition. Best 3 out of 4 rounds.  Open to all financial members who hold a current handicap.
 
019 – RSA RUM CHALLENGE
Competition held between Whangaparaoa Golf Club, Silverdale RSA and East Coast Bays RSA.
Men's 18 Hole
Men’s 18-Hole Competitions:
 
Bowen Cup
8 rounds of Stableford, with your best 6 cards out of 8 rounds scoring. Highest aggregate Points wins
 
Emmerson Cup
Pairs competition where the Best Combined Stableford points wins. You can choose a partner with who you play with or playing in another group. You do not necessarily have to be in the same group. The cards will be combined at the end of play
 
Oakes Trophy (All Irons)
1 round competition using Irons only, with Best Stableford points wins. No Hybrids, or Rescue Clubs allowed.
 
Captains Gold & Silver Cup
This is a net competition of 2 rounds in one day. Teams of 2 playing in foursomes using half of your course handicaps.  Alternate shots with 1 player teeing off odds and the other player off evens. The switch around for the 2nd round. Winning pair awarded the Captains Gold, the runners up awarded the Captains Silver.
 
Presidents Gold & Silver Trophy
A qualifying round to find the Top 16 players from both 1st and 2nd divisions, going in to a Matchplay knockout. This is Handicap Matchplay. Div 1 winner awarded the Presidents Gold, and Div 2 winner awarded the Presidents Silver.
 
Finalists will each qualify for the Champion of Champions Challenge Cup.
 
Len Day Cup
A best Net competition over 1 round
 
4 Ball Best Ball
This is a pairs Matchplay competition with handicap.16 teams of 2 go head to head in knockout. Lowest Handicap player is scratch, with other players taking strokes off that. Best stroke wins the hole for that pair.
 
Hibiscus Trophy
A best combined net competition over 2 rounds, which is played over 2 consecutive Saturdays.
 
Elliot Memorial Cup
A best combined Stableford competition over 2 rounds, which is played over 2 consecutive Saturdays.
 
September Cup
A Best Combined Net Competition over 2 rounds, which is played over 2 consecutive Saturday’s.
 
Strokeplay Championship
This is the Club Champs. This is the Masters of Club Competition.
 
Players are graded by handicap in to 5 grades. Senior, Intermediate, and Junior play 54 holes, and C grade, and D grade play 36 holes over 2 days. There is no Handicap, it is all Gross play. The best lowest Gross in each grade is Champion. Winners and Runners Up in each grade qualify for the Champion of Champions Challenge Cup.
 
Matchplay Championships
The top 16 players from the Qualifiers (2 rounds of Strokeplay Champs) in each Grade are seeded in to a Matchplay draw. No handicap allowance, this is purely scratch golf.
 
Winners and Runners Up in each grade qualify for the Champion of Champions Challenge Cup.
 
Patron Trophy
A best Net competition over 1 round. Prizes are donated by our Patron Allen Johns, who has supported this club for many years. Juniors with a handicap are invited to play.
 
Divot Diggers
A best Net competition over 1 round
 
Champion of Champions Challenge Cup
This is a 36 hole best Net competition. All Winners & Runners up from the 3 qualifying competitions, play off for the Title of Champion of Champions.
 
Shootout Cup
19 top point scoring players qualify from 10 shootout rounds to the Final. In the Final, all 19 players start off the 1st tee together, 1 player with the worst Net score is eliminated after each hole, until there are just 2 players left at the 18th tee.
